Answers
- I want to have my sound meter calibrated. Is this possible?
Fill in your details in the application form or contact us by phone or email. See our contact details for this. A traceable test can always be performed and, depending on the brand and type of the sound level meter, an accredited calibration according to the IEC-61672 standard for sound level meters can be performed. An accredited calibration can be performed for sound level meters from various manufacturers with a type approval (type approval).
- I want to have my calibrator / calibrator calibrated. Is this possible ?
Fill in your details in the application form or contact us by phone or email. See our contact details for this. An accredited calibration of a calibrator according to the IEC-60942 standard can be performed for calibrators of various manufacturers with a type approval.
- Are you a ISO/IEC 17025 accredited body?
Yes, we are accredited by the Dutch Accreditation Council for the calibration and periodic testing of sound level meters, filters and calibrators. View our RvA Calibration K168 Calibration K168 scope.
- Is the calibration an accredited ISO/IEC 17025 calibration?
The ISO/IEC 17025 is a standard drawn up for all test and calibration laboratories and not exclusively for accreditation purposes. When we perform an accredited calibration for a sound meter or calibrator, we always follow the ISO/IEC 17025 quality system.
- Is the calibration traceable?
Yes, regardless of whether we perform an accredited calibration or a traceable test / adjustment; all calibrations and tests we perform are always traceable to national and / or internationally accepted standards. - What is the calibration period for a sound level meter / how often do I have to have it calibrated?
This is described in the standard according to which you carry out the specific noise measurements. This term can be 1 year or 2 years. If no term is specified in the standard according to which you carry out the noise measurements, the calibration term of the manufacturer of the measuring instrument is usually adhered to, but this is not a legal requirement. - What is the lead time for a calibration / how long does the calibration procedure take?
We aim for a lead time of 3 working days excluding transport time. Sometimes it takes a day longer, sometimes it can be a day faster. Read more about the calibration procedure here ... - Does the calibration come with a certificate?
Yes, you will receive a calibration certificate with every calibration. - Is there a difference between an accredited calibration of a class 1 and a class 2 sound meter / calibrator?
There is no technical difference between an accredited calibration of a class 1 and a class 2 sound meter / calibrator, but the tolerance limits and test frequencies are different.
- Can I have multiple sound meters / calibrators calibrated at the same time?
Yes, in that case we will ensure that all your instruments go through the calibration procedure at the same time and are therefore are back in your possession at the same time.
- Why is regular calibration necessary?
When performing a noise measurements, you use your own calibrator to precisely adjust the noise meter at the measurement location to the air pressure at that moment. However, the standard according to which you perform measurements requires that both the sound meter and its calibrator are independently tested and calibrated periodically externally by a suitable laboratory. For you as the user, this is the only way to ensure that the entire measuring chain meets the requirements of the IEC-61672 standard (for sound level meters) or the IEC-60942 standard (for sound level calibrators). The calibration that we carry out are actually a large number of tests and a final calibration when all tests have been passed successfully. - Why should I choose Bureau Sound Calibration Laboratory for calibration?
We are a laboratory accredited by the Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA). We work according to a quality management system and follow ISO/IEC 17025. We work with clear procedures and open communication. We perform the calibration quickly. Your instrument will not be shipped abroad. That is why you should choose Bureau Sound Calibration Laboratory.
- When can we reach you?
We are available by phone on working days during office hours, but we may be performing measurements or calibrations. In that case, you can leave a message on our voicemail and we will call you back within one working day. You can also send an email. We always answer these messages within 48 hours on working days.
- Can our measuring instruments to be calibrated be delivered to the laboratory and collected?
Yes, and we welcome this because you will then know how the transport took place. In that case, please contact us in advance to schedule delivery and collection. See our contact details for this.
- What does the calibration of a sound meter or calibrator cost?
Please contact us for this.
- What is calibration / calibration?
Calibration is the comparison of a system or device with a standard to determine its properties. The adjustment or adjustment to conform to specification is called adjustment. A calibration consists of first calibrating and then adjusting. (source: Wikipedia)
